WHERE IT WENT - ALMOST, MAINE (2020) BY JOHN CARIANI

When assigned to designing a scene from Almost, Maine, I was given an enormous amount of freedom, being allowed to decide things like era, setting, theatre configuration, etc. I chose to set Where it Went in the 1960s because of Marci's expression of malcontent in her marriage with her husband, seeing as women began to speak out more openly about their struggles in this time period, with the rise of feminism. Because this scene took place on a frozen pond, I took inspiration from winter clothing ads from the era.
